The first hotel, built in the 1700s, was integrated into the growth of 1887, which was also integrated into the growth of 2001, and features quite possibly THE most impressive perspectives on the entire island, from the world famous pool, framed by a row of classic Greek columns overlooking Crane Beach, to the ensuite personal pools, Resort lofts, or Non-public Flats ; impressive perspectives are de rigueur at The Crane. Crane Beach, a mere 2 hundred steps below the hotel, was named one of the "World's Top ten Beaches" by "The Lifestyles of the wealthy and Famous".

A sitting area and 2 further bedrooms are at ground zero with perspectives of the colourful gardens. Though it has got to be spotted that certain comforts are not available at the resort,eg, settee beds, chillers, kitchen facilities, or whirlpools, non-smoking rooms are available. The Palm Patio Cafe overlooking the Caribbean features world and local cuisine in a chic, romantic setting. A tasty lunch on the open-air terrace started with fresh Spicy Ahi Tuna and an entre of griddled Mahi-Mahi, Herb Jasmine Rice with stir-fried Vegetables and Tabouleh Salsa. I attempted hard not to indulge my sweet tooth but was fully won over by the extremely smooth and sour Mango-Chocolate Torte placed befo! re me.
